A Tablet With 250 GB Hard Drive

Archos G9 is breaking all the hard drive barriers associated with a tablet. We have seen what 64 GBso far? Now we have a 250 GB hard drive on a tablet. Is that useful? I’m not sure just yet but it sure is one selling point. May be there are people out there who are cloud averse and want to keep everything on the tablet.

Or may be there are people out there who just want to hoard lots of media and don’t want to rely on the cloud.
Archos G9 has 2.5 inch hard drive  at  7 mm thickness. Seagate Momentus Thin  is what’s powering Archos tablet. On top of this there is  a 4 GB of flash storage.

Archos isn’t banking on the hard drive alone. It comes with 1.5 GHz Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 dual core processor. Of course the appetizing Ice Cream Sandwich is on board too.

Now tell me this. We have seen umpteen tablets and never thought a giant hard drive could be a differentiator. Android tablets by and large are suffering from a good experience.

As I have been arguing on this blog, increasing the cores or the hard drive isn’t going to get us anywhere. But wait. It’s 250 GB for crying out loud. It has to be good for something. What could that be? Porn?
